Chapter 32 begins with Oscar making a fake ID for Ahmed so that he could go to school. After that is finished, Max’s friend Farah, who speaks French well, calls the school. She asks if there is a spot at the school for him and gives the secretary all of the information. The next day Max tells Madame Pauline, Max’s tutor , about Ahmed and how he is starting his school. When she hears that he is from Syria, she wonders if his family has terrorist roots. Ahmed starts his first day of school and loves it. After school, Claire, Max’s sister, asks questions about Ahmed. Max finally tells her that he is living in the basement. Claire promises not to tell their parents.
